I wrote the poem below in 2008 on Valentine’s Day for my wife. Don’t beat me up to bad on the theological soundness of it, I have grown & matured greatly in the knowledge, wisdom, mercy, and grace of the Lord and his Word. The point of sharing the poem is not theological but more practical. This was a point in time in which I realized that Romance and being Romantic was not something you either did or didn’t have, nor something you were born with, but in fact it was something you could develop and grow. Romance like most things consist in focusing on it, developing it, trying, learning, and studying it. If you lack Romance in your marriage, you need to be Romantic on purpose, it doesn’t just happen. You need to try to be Romantic. You need to think of ways to be Romantic. The more focus and effort you give to being Romantic the richer the experience will become. Romance is not complicated but it does take thought, time, and effort.
Romance is a thoughtful express of love.
A Love Story
In eternity past God decided he would create
an example of wonderful human love to show the world.
At that moment our love was created.
Before time, God paired your soul with mine,
so that in time you would be mine and,
at the appointed time our lives intertwined.
In you an angel became flesh,
your beautiful soul,
clothed in beautiful flesh, yet
your eyes still shine like the glow of an angel.
A priceless treasure you are,
only surpassed
by GOD’s LOVE and
free gift of
SALVATION we have both received.
To be allowed to walk with you,
my wife,
is more than one man could ask for in life.
To hold the most costly jewel, is as if holding dust
when compared to holding you.
To gaze upon the brightest star is but a dim light,
when compared to the light of the fire you create in my heart.
Your love strengthens me.
Your love comforts me.
Your love is more then enough for a life time.
Thank you for Loving Me.
Love
Your humble and grateful husband
